Festival de Blues de Barcelona

The Blues de Barcelona is a different species. The loyalty of its audience, the calibre of musicians who pass through, the care taken with every edition — nothing here is superficial or accidental.

Photographing blues is photographing scars. Every musician carries a story you can see in their hands, their posture, the way they lean into the microphone as if they have something important to tell it.

Not everyone understands the blues at first glance. But everyone understands a photograph that genuinely captures it.

A relationship built on trust

We’ve been there since the beginning — since the early editions, when the festival was smaller but already had the same ambition. The organisation trusted us to document it edition after edition, year after year. That kind of trust is not taken for granted.

At night, in bold low light, hunting the moment within the moment. The blues doesn’t forgive easy photographs: either you’re truly there or you’re not.

Every edition is a lesson in patience and presence. The best comes when the musician stops noticing the camera and stops performing for it. Only then.

In 2025 we weren’t there — it coincided with Vijazz. But the festival continues, and so do we.
