FITI — Festival Internacional de Teatre Integratiu
FITI is the festival of Alquimistes Teatre, one of the most established inclusive theatre companies in Spain. More than twenty-five years bringing mixed casts — actors with and without intellectual diversity — to the stage, from Santa Coloma de Gramenet to the world.
Alquimistes Teatre was founded in 1998 with a clear idea: inclusive theatre is not second-tier theatre or therapeutic theatre. It is theatre. And as such, it deserves proper stages, international festivals and photography that shows it as such.
FITI — Festival Internacional de Teatre Integratiu — is their biennial festival: a meeting point for companies from across the world working with mixed casts that demonstrate, performance after performance, that diversity on stage is not a handicap but an expressive strength.
What we photograph there
Inclusive theatre is photographically unlike anything else: nothing can be predicted, bodies move differently, emotions surface unfiltered. It is the kind of performance that demands total presence.
Five consecutive editions — from the V to the IX — and each time we understand a little better that documenting FITI means documenting something that matters.
The relationship with Alquimistes is one of trust, complicity and genuinely enjoyable collaboration at each biennial edition. One of the collaborations we value most.
A note on documentation: for reasons of participants’ image rights, published visual coverage is necessarily limited. Not everything that is photographed needs to be published — sometimes documenting means being present without making noise.
