A different perspective: analogue photography with personality and mystery

Sprocket Rocket and Adox HR-50 film at the Menorca salt flats: images that evoke salt, tramuntana wind and whites that almost hurt.

At Pocallum we don’t only work with traditional analogue photography — we also explore less conventional paths to give our images a personality of their own.

This time we combined two unusual elements.

The equipment

The Lomography Sprocket Rocket: a camera that looks almost like a toy. Entirely plastic, it stands out for its panoramic format and, above all, for exposing the entire 35mm film — including the sprocket holes — producing results that break completely with conventional formats.

Adox HR-50 film, recently adopted by the prestigious Leica brand: it delivers an almost silvery black and white with a very special texture that makes images look as though they come from another era — or another world.

The location

The photographs were taken in early June at the Menorca salt flats on a day of intense sunshine. The combination of equipment and location produced allegorical images that evoke the smell of salt, the tramuntana wind that dries everything, the intense whites that almost hurt the eyes, and the dryness in the throat produced by the salt flat landscape.

We thank Sal de Menorca for their generosity in allowing us to photograph the location with multiple cameras and films from every possible angle.

We invite you to immerse yourself in this visual universe that goes beyond the simple image and awakens all the senses.
