Joan Linux Martínez Photographer · Editor · Cultural activist

Pocallum is a photography project created in 2010 by Joan Linux Martínez. We do cultural photography: concerts, performing arts, music of all kinds — with a special passion for jazz and blues.

We didn’t come from a trend or the digital democratisation of photography. We came from a need to document what happens on stages, in rehearsals, in dressing rooms. To capture the atmosphere of a jazz concert at 2am, or the tension of an actor just before going on stage.

There are photographers who take photos of concerts. And there are photographers who understand music. We’re the second kind.

We’ve been making photos that people remember since 2002. We work in analogue and digital, always with editorial judgement and without losing it to any passing trend. Our studio is at Nau Bostik, in the north of Barcelona.
